*Note that this is about my webdesign life - not my offline life*
I discovered a lot of websites in 2002 and a few are still alive today. I never officially opened any websites during the year. I was only inspired by others. I guess
you could say I was preparing for my first website.
And so, my very first website is a Cardcaptor Sakura fansite, inspired by Cindy's Cardcaptors Cosmos. It was opened on April 4 2003 with the
help of Geocities' pagebuilder. If you would like to know more about the history of this fansite, please visit Izzy's Cardcaptors
.
As soon as my webdesign life began, I slowly lost my focus at school. I thought, "My website is my top priority. I need to think of ways where
all visitors can enjoy my website. Homework comes in second." I immediately fell in love with webdesign and was determined to turn it into my future career (at the time).
Several projects came right after the opening. Izzy's Hamtaro became a sister site for my CCS fansite, but it closed shortly afterwards because I lost
interest in the series, Hamtaro. I don't think I was ever interested in the series, to be honest
~
Later on in 2003, I opened another fansite dedicated to my favourite male anime characters, Syaoran Li and Megaman
.
Due to tagboard dramas and lack of visitors, Those Eyes closed down early 2004.
While Those Eyes was still at its early stage, my first web blog, The Distance was opened (late 2003). Luckily enough, it stayed opened for
more than a year before Spectacious was opened. ![]()
During 2003-2004, my good friend, John (owner of The Super Site), and I created a site together. We worked extremely hard on it, but we never revealed it because we were very busy with our offline lives. We eventually closed it and decided we should move on with our own fansites.
2004 was quite an eventful year. First off, my first review site, Enchanted Reviews (quite an "extraordinary" name, huh?) was opened along with Manuca
and several other staff members. It didn't last too long. It closed down by the end of 2004.
I was very satisfied with my review site so I closed it with
no regrets at all. Multiple internet dramas emerged due to layout thieves and haters (they hated me and my website). Some of my haters ended up
becoming my friends; affiliates even! As for the others, we (yes, including me) apologized to each other and peacefully resolved the issue. Some of my friends
became enemies because they couldn't accept their differences. There was a lot of unhappiness, but I made it and finished the year off with the birth of Spectacious, the
site you're viewing right now!
Izzy's Cardcaptors moved to different
hosts during the year. It went from Geocities > Freewebs > Kawaiistar.
Kawaiistar closed down in 2005, forcing me to find a new host. Luckily, Dark Hope was willing to host Izzy's Cardcaptors
for the time being. At this stage, I began contemplating whether I should add Tsubasa Chronicles
onto my CCS fansite. The Distance closed shortly after 2005 arrived
because I had decided to turn Spectacious into my official web blog. Izzy's Cardcaptors' Forum was created in the middle of
2005 in hopes of increasing the flexibility of my website to my visitors and
create a small community. The fansite also moved to Spectacious because Dark Hope closed down.
By the end of 2005, Tsubasa Chronicles was added onto Izzy's Cardcaptors after the
"huge" revamp. ![]()
During 2005, I found myself involved with the Anime Webdesign Community - I meant actively involved. I visited a few graphic sites during 2002 until I was actively involved with the community in 2005.
In 2006, Izzy's Cardcaptors was still my top priority. Because I was deeply dedicated to my fansite, I transformed it to a CCS/TRC fansite.
So basically
Izzy's Cardcaptors re-debuted with a better layout format and an additional CLAMP series!
Early into the year, I opened a graphics site called Mysterious Creations. Not long after it was opened, my site was involved with a couple of wanks. I
didn't let it bother me though.
Summer 2006 was a summer of internet dramas. There were multiple incidents with Acerbic Bitches, which I'm sure some of you may have heard of. My graphics site was involved with the "AWC Wank," but I didn't fully participate. There was also a HUGE strike amongst various graphics sites (in which I was involved with). So Mysterious Creations was on a strike for a full month before it came back. Summer felt like an eternity because of the drama. In addition, Izzy's Cardcaptors went through the same scenarios in 2004 and there were many friendship problems as well. Not everything was resolved in 2006, but I left them alone and moved on to 2007.
2007 was probably the year of inactivity for me.
Out of 5 or 6 layouts I've made,
only 2 were uploaded onto the internet. This is the year where I've made the
least layouts. I'd usually make more than 20 layouts each year. But because 2007 was my last year of high school, I wanted to do well and spent more time with
offline friends. So I neglected Izzy's Cardcaptors and didn't blog as often. 2007 was a peaceful year. I've had minor projects on Livejournal with a few friends,
but that is mostly it. I took a huge break from the webdesign world to look for inspiration and re-energize for the upcoming year. I think my break paid off.

I plan to be an active webdesigner again. I plan to move onto visual arts or just designing in general. I'm currently working on about 5-? projects and they're all set to open sometime during 2008.
With regards to the anime fansite, the unconfirmed date of the opening is Summer 2008 ![]()
And finally, after more than half a year, Spectacious has a new layout as a message that I'm ready to be active again!
I hope I can keep this motivation up for the entire year!
